Pinot Noir is a sensual red wine managing to balance both delicacy and strength while reflecting the terroir where it was grown. Our Farmgate Pinot Noir, from the warmer Hawke’s Bay climes, shows lifted sweet strawberries and red cherries with earthy, mushroomy complexity.
Our 09 Farmgate Pinot Gris shows ripe pear, white peach and guava with creaming soda and nutmeg notes. A full-bodied dry white wine with a slippery, viscous texture.
Chenin Blanc is the lost child of the New Zealand wine industry. Used and abused in the 1980’s as a bulk wine and cheap fizzy, it has been championed by only a handful of specialist winemakers since. Chenin Blanc needs the right vineyard site to express its true character. The lean soil and hot stones of our Gimblett Gravels vineyard controls the wines natural vigour and allows it to ripen fully. 3.5 STARS Michael Cooper,Winestate magazine
